This is because fever causes discomfort and can disrupt activities, so it is important to know various ways to reduce fever in adults.

1. Drink plenty of water

When you have a fever, your body temperature will rise and can lead to dehydration. Therefore, you need to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and reduce your fever quickly.

In addition to drinking water, you can also meet your fluid needs by consuming warm soup, juice, or smoothies made from your favorite fruit.

2. Eat nutritious foods

In addition to drinking plenty of water, you are also advised to eat nutritious foods when you have a fever. This is because consuming foods rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals can boost your immune system, helping you recover quickly from illness.

3. Get enough rest

Getting enough rest and sleep is also one way to reduce fever in adults. This is important because adequate sleep can boost the body's immunity in fighting infection.

So, make sure you get at least 7 hours of sleep every night. Also, avoid strenuous physical activity until you have fully recovered.

4. Cold Compress

To reduce a fever, you can apply a cold compress to your forehead. You can also apply a cold compress to your armpits or groin.

These areas are known to have larger blood vessels, so applying a cold compress can help your body temperature drop more quickly. Apply the cold compress for 10–15 minutes and repeat until the fever subsides.

5. Take a Warm Bath

In addition to a cold compress, it's also recommended to take a warm bath for 20–30 minutes. A warm bath can not only reduce a fever but also relax your body, helping you sleep better.

Taking a cold bath while you have a fever is not recommended, as it can increase your body temperature.

6. Take a Fever-Reducing Medication

Fever-reducing medication, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen, can also be used to reduce fever in adults.

These medications are usually available over-the-counter at pharmacies. Make sure you take them according to the instructions on the packaging.

If you have tried the methods above to reduce fever in adults but the fever does not subside and lasts for more than 3 days or is even accompanied by other symptoms, such as vomiting or diarrhea, immediately consult a doctor for appropriate treatment.
